We are seeking to collaborate with Cheshire West & Chester Council to launch a voucher-based furniture & household goods access fund for residents on Universal Credit or low incomes.
How It Works:
- Furniture & Household Goods Donations: We receive and refurbish donated items.
- Voucher Fund: Eligible families receive council-issued vouchers (e.g. £50–£150) redeemable at our reuse centre.
- Affordable Access: Vouchers can be used to purchase essential furniture at low or no cost.
- Dignified Choice: Families choose items that suit their needs, promoting autonomy and dignity.
- Environmental Impact: Every item reused diverts waste from landfill and reduces carbon footprint.
Benefits to the Council:
- Supports Local Families: Addresses furniture poverty and improves living conditions.
- Reduces Waste: Aligns with sustainability and circular economy goals.
- Cost-Effective: Leverages existing donations and infrastructure.
- Community Engagement: Strengthens ties with local charities, housing providers, and social services.
- Scalable Model: Can expand to include white goods, baby items, or digital access.
What We Need:
- Council Endorsement: Support for the voucher fund and referral process.
- Promotion: Help reaching eligible residents through council channels.
- Funding Support: To subsidize logistics, staffing and voucher value.
